IMPORTANT: Always make sure Bitlocker is suspended before any parts are replaced on a laptop. Make sure the user knows they need IT to do this before anything work is done under warranty.
Following the below steps will help us get support from Dell when we're experiencing hardware issues where the part might need replacing by a Dell Engineer as long as the device is still under warranty.
1. Checking the device is still under warranty:
In order to check the device's warranty status we can do so by navigating to https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-uk
In most cases the site will automatically identify our system and show the following details.
2. Using Dell Diagnostic tools
On the same page we can click on Diagnostics where we can find 3 type of tests: Run Quick Test, Run Full Test or if we already know the part that has failed we can run a Custom Component Test
3. Once the test / tests have been completed, the Contact Support button will appear
